Friday was our last hike in Rocky Mountain National Park, and due to my knee strain, we changed plans from the ten-mile hike to Sky Pond. We decided on the hike to Lake Haiyaha and The Loch, a six-miler which turned into eight miles for Matthew and Elizabeth and Andrew who went all the way, and then took our longer scenic route back to the trailhead. Lake Haiyaha lived up to its name, and we navigated carefully through the boulders to the lake, which looked prehistoric amidst all the rock. Naturally, this was one of Elizabeth’s favorite spots, and I have to agree that climbing the rocks was a lot of fun. On the way back, I could not stop taking pictures of the beautiful trail carved through the pines and aspens. Can you imagine how beautiful the aspens are in the fall when they turn gold? I include here a few photos in Boulder as well, of our tea time at Dunshanbe Tea House and our stop at Avery Brewing Company. Other highlights in Boulder were Elizabeth’s birthday dinner at Frasca (all agreed it was one of the best meals ever) and afternoon tastings at Walnut Street and Mountain Sun brew pubs. We didn’t get on bicycles on Boulder Creek Path, but there’s always next time... Leave a comment
