Sons and Daughters

Sons and Daughters

Summer means free time for family—time off from school, from work, from the usual routine—and this summer marked big changes for us. Jack turned two on June 28, a milestone in his young life, and his cousins were there to mark the day. Seth and Taylor moved to Austin, a big move away from their home in Louisiana. Amy and Molly visited us the 4th of July weekend and were here to welcome them to Texas. Meanwhile, Jack became more and more bold at our pool, and Benjamin soaked in the sun and his brother’s glory. Later in the summer, Mike and Nancy, Reese and Kaley and family made the trek to Texas to see for themselves what enticed Taylor and Seth to Austin. Bonnie joined us then, and for me, it was a dream come true to have so much family here together. Needless to say, Matthew’s more frequent visits to Texas topped my summer. I headed to San Antonio one more time to meet him and Sharon, and leaving town I had to stop by the old neighborhood. Barbie and Dennis started out with us in Shavano Creek all those years ago; it looks like they will remain in Texas for the duration, happily for our friendship.
