Holidays in Austin and Houston

Holidays in Austin and Houston

Thanksgiving and Christmas 2019 were blurred, but thankfully so, since our family was able to spend time together for both holidays. Highlights were decorating the tree after Thanksgiving in Austin, getting together at Jennifer’s with my family to decorate gingerbread houses, going out to dinner on Christmas Eve, and spending Christmas morning at Elizabeth and Andrew’s. It was wonderful to have Matthew with us, and though Jack had no idea what was going on, he added so much joy to the day. We saw Greta Gerwig’s take on Little Women after Christmas and loved it. But as Matthew pointed out, there were some casting missteps, and we walked away with some favorites from the Wynona Ryder film. Thomas Newman’s score is one reason why that version will always be first in my heart. One note here: I am grateful to Jennifer for bringing our family together in memory of Mom ( Grandma). We have so many great memories of big family Christmases when we exchanged white elephant gifts and played Liverpool Rummy and board games. It’s a tradition we hope to continue.
