Mom and Dad took the flight from New Orleans to spend a week with us in Austin, and what an enjoyable visit! For all that was happening at the time -- Mother’s Day, a wedding in San Antonio, a graduation in Houston -- it was a relaxing few days going out to Eastside Cafe, the Four Seasons and Kome, grilling and lounging out back, shopping with Mom, and hiking with Dad in the Barton Creek Greenbelt. The guys took off one afternoon to play golf, and for a few evenings, we caught up on some of the best movies of last year. The most memorable time was playing twenty-plus games of mahjong, at least what I can remember of it. Even Matthew joined in on the madness, and when Bonnie arrived, I met her at the door bleary-eyed and unshowered, complaining that Mom and Dad had worn me out! Patrick had come along, too, to play tennis in Austin, and we made it to the club for Sunday breakfast before our company headed back to Houston. The families met up Tuesday night for Patrick’s graduation from Baylor Medical School. After the ceremony, we celebrated at Sambuca with good music and festive food and drinks. It was a happy, proud evening for us all! Leave a comment
