Summertime will always mean for me those bonus days with family, taking a break for lazy days talking and eating together, watching sports, playing games. Bonnie and I took the familiar road to Houma in June, and it was great timing. We got to see how Amy and Claude had transformed their home with a little vision and a lot of hard work. We caught Hayes in a couple of his baseball games and Molly in her soccer match. On the weekend we drove to Mandeville to celebrate Mom and Dad’s anniversary with Mike and his family -- only to learn that Reese and Kaley are expecting a baby! And then we learned other great news with Mom’s doctor’s appointment, all in one week’s time! It was a special visit, and a rejuvenating one. There’s something reassuring about Dad’s cooking and Mom’s determination to beat us all at mah jong. Being together just makes everything look brighter.
