Anniversary Trek in Telluride

Anniversary Trek in Telluride

For our anniversary this year, we made the trek to Telluride, via Santa Fe, and hiking these mountain trails was the peaceful adventure we had hoped for. The drive itself was beautiful, with the scenery changing from rolling hills to red cliffs to towering mountains. But that couldn’t compare to our daily hikes in Telluride. The trails took us beside creeks and up to waterfalls, and through groves of aspens and spruce trees. And the 60’s temps with the smell of spruce added so much to the sights. After our first morning hike, we ran through a thunderstorm at the trail’s end, but the afternoon rain didn’t interfere with eating out at all the fun restaurants in town. At the beginning and end of our trip, Santa Fe was sunny as usual -- we loved the sunsets on the rooftop bar of La Fonda and our breakfast at the top of Hotel Santa Fe -- and exploring nearby Tent Rocks was like walking on another planet. The music from Cider House Rules fits the beauty of these days.
