In mid-December, Bonnie came to town for the 75th anniversary screening of Gone with the Wind. It was a lively event at the Paramount, with an appreciative audience that applauded and laughed at all the same moments. I took Bonnie through the Gone with the Wind exhibition at the Harry Ransom Center afterwards, along with my neighbor Gretchen and her mother-in-law. For those few months of the exhibit, we had record attendance, and I was impressed by the number of people who had very personal memories of seeing the film and reading Margaret Mitchell’s novel. Despite all the controversy, Gone with the Wind clearly remains a favorite among movie-goers. I include at the end photos that happened to get excluded earlier: two favorites in Austin and two special places in Fredericksburg -- St. Mary’s Catholic Church, one of the famous painted churches in Texas, and Hill Top Cafe.
