With the holidays behind us, and Mark’s semi-retirement clearing free time ahead, we decided to hit the road in late January and again in March. It was our stop to see Matthew in Lake Village that gave us the opportunity to visit Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas. The architecture and fine art (including a Van Gogh to Rothko exhibit) was gorgeous, and while Mark appreciated it all as much as I did, he loved visiting Bentonville and its Sam Walton museum, and then staying at the 21C Museum Hotel with its sleek modern decor. The most relaxing time for both of us was having dinner at the museum restaurant, Eleven. As it turns out, Crystal Bridges opened on 11/11/11. I include here views of the galleries and selections of the art, from among other artists: Winslow Homer, Georgia O’Keefe, Edward Hopper, Robert Motherwell, Lee Krasner, Vassily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko and a beautiful Van Gogh I had never seen before. The music is from The Social Network.
