The day before Thanksgiving was clear and cold -- perfect weather for a day at the ranch! Andrew had the home fires burning when we got to his grandfather’s place. Inside, the blazing logs in the fireplace warmed the house while we got things together for the barbecue. Outside, the bonfire provided a gathering spot after the sun went down. We sat in armchairs around the fire and roasted marshmallows for s’mores, when we weren’t just talking in the dark. Sitting out there was so relaxing for Mark and me, but I think the skeet-shooting and driving on the four-wheeler were the highlights for Hayes and Molly and Claude, Jr. For my mom and dad, it was the pleasure of sitting in the sun, eating fresh-picked oranges and pecans, and watching everyone enjoy the outdoors. Thanksgiving morning, we woke to warmer temps, and Mark and Elizabeth and Andrew took off for their Turkey Trot around the ranch. Then it was time to head to Bonnie’s for the Thanksgiving meal. It was an impressive feast. Everyone split the time playing pool, watching football, and riding the mini-bike Claude, Jr. miraculously repaired. And after we drank champagne punch to mark Jennifer’s 30th and start the gift exchange, we posed for the group picture at the end. I also include photos of the family pets and both Bonnie’s and Taryn’s visits to Austin. Leave a comment
