Santa Fe Sisters
Earlier in June, my sisters and Mark and I took a quick trip to Santa Fe. It was our chance to show Bonnie and Amy the town we’ve come to love for its relaxing vibe and high desert beauty. We ate lunch at The Shed, explored the Plaza at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi, and walked along Canyon Road to art galleries and Garcia Street Books with the adjoining coffee shop and garden. From there, we walked to San Miguel Mission, the oldest church in the United States dating back to 1610. Mark and I drove Bonnie to Bandelier National Monument the next day—that climb to the Alcove House cliff dwelling always thrills—and then enjoyed happy hour at Hotel Santa Fe before dinner. When Amy arrived, we explored more of the shops along the Plaza, browsed through the art galleries and boutiques on Canyon Road and enjoyed afternoon cocktails with live music. It’s amazing how relaxing the little things can be. And we didn’t even have to bore Mark with the shopping; he rented a bike for the day. We ate at some of our favorite restaurants, including snacks in the hotel’s teepee, and we hiked on one of the prettiest trails in Santa Fe. Our stay in the only Native-American owned hotel in Santa Fe was very special, as always.
