Fall 2022

Fall in Houston was filled with happy days at home, at our beloved Arboretum, at the Natural Science Museum, the Houston Zoo, and Hermann Park. We took a trip to Durham for Labor Day weekend and spent a nice couple of days with Matthew and Sharon. The Japanese Garden at Duke Gardens was an especially beautiful place for meditation. What is it about stone paths that gives me such peace? Elizabeth and the boys came to Austin for her fall break, and we had to follow our Halloween traditions. We loved seeing that Matthew and Sharon were getting into pumpkin carving as much as anyone. Elizabeth and Andrew’s neighborhood makes a big deal out of Halloween, much to our enjoyment every day of the holiday. Klein and I remain the only October birthdays, and we celebrated his on October 20. At the end of the month, I made a trip with my sisters to Louisiana—to see Molly and her Ole Miss team play at LSU, and to join Mike and Nancy to celebrate 50th and 60th birthdays. We didn’t make the big trip we had hoped for, but there’s always next year.
