A Baby Shower for Elizabeth

A Baby Shower for Elizabeth

Elizabeth has never liked being the center of attention, but a woman in her eighth month of pregnancy can hardly avoid it, especially when everyone is excited about her first baby. Our sweet family — Jennifer, Bonnie, Amy and Molly — joined with Elizabeth’s dear friend Anna to host a beautiful shower on June 1, just a few weeks away from her due date. Whew! It was an outpouring of love on their part, with all the special touches of decorations and refreshments and activities that meant so much to Elizabeth and me. Amy and Molly made the long drive from Houma; other guests made the trek to Katy where Jennifer’s house was the perfect setting. (I didn’t recognize it without the toys and boys — love that craziness!) Klein and Beck and Cole did show up just in time for opening presents. And after all the partying was done, Elizabeth and I joined the sistas and cousins for a tour of Bonnie’s house in progress—three minutes away—and a visit to Elizabeth’s to see the nursery. What made the weekend even more exciting was Amy’s move to their condo in Baton Rouge (for Claude Jr. and Molly’s time at LSU) and our own move to the apartment in Houston (to be near Elizabeth and Andrew, and their baby) which will be our alternate home to Austin. Elizabeth and I feel so grateful to my family, and Debbie, too (what a pretty, and delicious cake). As Mom would say, “How wonderful!”
