Memphis 2018: On the Civil Rights Trail

Memphis 2018: On the Civil Rights Trail

In April we took another trip to see Mark's mom in Pawley's Island and Matthew in Chapel Hill, but this time we decided to stop along the Civil Rights Trail, first in Memphis. We returned to the National Civil Rights Museum, where we had first visited in 2010 the weekend of David Ellison's wedding. It had dramatically changed with the renovations. I include a few photos, along with pics from Sun Studio opened by Sam Phillips in 1950. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Roy Orbison are some of the legends who recorded here. Otis Redding is another musician associated with Memphis, along with Howlin' Wolf and Ike Turner who reminded me of all those honored in Mississippi on the Delta Blues Trail.
