The Women's March, Austin
The election of Donald Trump for President shocked much of the country and rallied women to march on Washington, and on other cities around the country and the world in support. My friends and I joined the passionate crowd here in Austin. It was an uplifting day, full of camaraderie and shared conviction that we had to stay true to democratic principles. Mark's sister Debbie marched with the huge numbers - and I mean truly huge at half a million - in Washington. In late January in Chapel Hill, Mark and I saw more of the resistance to Trump's presidency, this time against immigration policy. If the campaign rhetoric, and Trump's tweets, indicate what's to come, we can expect many challenges to Barack Obama's legacy. Brace yourselves.
