Mom and I finally made it to the opera together! After trying for years to arrange a time, we were able to attend Austin Lyric Opera’s performance of Turandot. It was a beautiful production, and one that reinforced for Mom why Puccini is her favorite. The entire week with Mom and Dad was special, with relaxing time on our back porch and visits to Mount Bonnell and Laguna Gloria, the Ransom Center and the Botanical Gardens. While Mom played duplicate bridge at the club, Dad and I hiked five miles on my favorite trail in the Barton Creek Greenbelt. Thanks to the recent rain, the creek was flowing fast. We made it to Uchiko one evening and to Guero’s one afternoon, even though Mark’s grilling was good enough to keep us home. The surprise of the visit? Mark joined us for a couple of games of Liverpool Rummy and even won a few hands. Okay, running is definitely more his speed. See the last photo: Mark nearing the end of the 10Mile/20Band run in Austin!
